Our Story

What’s Our Story? What’s an American Falafel Shoppe? Well, Ragadan is the crossroads of Arabic street food from Amman, Jordan and American-Midwestern comfort fare. Why bring these two cuisines together from thousands of miles apart, what do they have in common? Nothing! But owner and operator, Danny Sweis is a first-generation American with parents who immigrated to the Midwest from Amman, Jordan so growing up in Oklahoma City eating Falafels and Burgers was kinda normal!

Last 20 years Danny spent running kitchens all around Chicago, from French to Italian to Asian, and even a little South American cuisine. Throughout all those years Falafels and Burgers were always something that gave him comfort after a long day’s hard work. When it came time to start his own operation, the choice was easy.

Ragadan is a Family Business, owned and operated by husband and wife Danny and Maria, and with the help of family Ragadan has become a reality. Being a family-run restaurant it’s closed on Sundays, so all employees can have a day of the week that they can count on to be with their loved ones. So if you happen to stop by for some falafels and burgers on a Sunday afternoon, sorry for the inconvenience they wont be there, but try Montrose beach you may find them having a barbeque and if your timing is right you may just get that burger and falafel but picnic-style!

The Business Plan is simple, Quality, Execution, & Quality! Why Quality Twice? Well, it’s super important, it’s critical, it’s the foundation where everything is built. As long as quality products are being brought together and handled properly the rest falls in place. Ingredients are thoughtfully sourced from reputable vendors, farmers, and ranchers. Chickpeas are USDA #1 Grade grown only in the Pacific Northwest, by independent farmers. Beef is Grassfed from Dakotas and Kansas. The Chicken is naturally raised and handled, without added antibiotics or hormones.

Stop by the Shoppe and say hello, get something to eat, but don’t forget the Baklava!
